1:1 Teaching Assistant SEMH Canterbury

Full-Time Monday-Friday Term Time OnlyLong-Term with Potential for Permanent Placement

Academics are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Canterbury. This role involves working closely with a single pupil, providing tailored academic and emotional support to help them engage positively with learning and school life.

The Role:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs

  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Assist with differentiated learning activities inside and outside the classroom

  • Build a strong, trusting relationship to promote engagement and progress

  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (school-based experience desirable but not essential)

  • Calm, patient, and resilient under pressure

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset

  • Able to set clear boundaries while remaining supportive

  • A positive role model who can build rapport and encourage confidence

5 day per week availability

£90 - £100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
