We are working with a supportive primary school in South Shields who are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with additional needs.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the importance of building trust and providing tailored, consistent support to help a child thrive both academically and emotionally.
Role overview
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil throughout the school day. You will help them access learning, manage emotions and feel confident within the classroom environment.
You'll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the support provided is consistent, effective and tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Adapt learning activities to suit the pupil's needs
- Support emotional regulation and transitions
- Implement strategies in line with EHCP targets
- Encourage independence and confidence
- Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- A nurturing, patient and understanding approach
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Consistency and reliability
- Understanding of EHCPs is desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
