Job Description
1.0 FTE - Visual Arts Long Term Occasional Teacher

Location: Central Hastings School

Start Date: immediately

End Date: June 26, 2026

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position is based on the incumbent's QECO rating and approved teaching experience. Salary grids can be found within the applicable Collective Agreement under Local Article L29 (pg. 76). Salary rates are prorated based on the FTE and the length of the assignment. The current rate is effective September 1, 2025.

Requirements
  • Incumbent must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • OCT Intermediate/Senior Divisional Qualifications
  • OCT Visual Arts qualifications
  • Applicants who receive an offer of employment will be required to provide a vulnerable sector criminal background check that is dated within six (6) months of their start date.

HPEDSB is encouraging individuals with proficiency in Visual Arts to apply to this position, even if they are not in possession of an OCT certificate. For those applicants who are not certified with the Ontario College of Teachers, the Board will require the following:

  • Resume and Cover Letter outlining experiences.
  • An endorsement letter confirming your proficiency Visual Arts.

Applicants who are not certified with the Ontario College of Teachers will also be required to confirm their eligibility to teach on a Letter of Permission as a condition of employment. This eligibility is outlined in Ontario Regulation 142/08 Letters of Permission made under the Education Act. This eligibility includes:

  • Being 18 years of age or older
  • Having an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Providing a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal background check.
