Job Description

W Talent are delighted to be supporting a well-established aerospace and nuclear manufacturer in the search for a Buyer to join their procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly reputable engineering business supplying into critical, highly regulated industries, with a strong focus on quality, precision, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient procurement of materials, components, and services to support production and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the procurement of raw materials, components, and services in line with production requirements and business demand.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are achieved.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms to deliver best value and cost efficiencies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply, quality, and delivery issues proactively.
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability and continuity of supply.
  • Analyse inventory levels, demand forecasts, and purchasing trends to support effective stock management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic sourcing initiatives across the supply base.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and purchasing data within ERP systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain functions.
Key Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Buyer, Procurement, or Purchasing role within manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or other regulated industries.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Experience managing purchase orders, supplier performance, and inventory requirements.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a proactive approach to cost reduction and supplier development.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • ERP/MRP systems experience preferred.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
