Course Description

Examine the ethics and impacts of AI on our shared future

AI is rapidly shaping the world around us. On this three-week course, you’ll critically examine the role of ethics in the development and deployment of AI technologies, with a focus on social justice, inclusion, and sustainability.

Explore ethical theory and apply this to AI

Build your understanding of AI—what it is, how it works, and why ethics are crucial to its development.

You’ll examine descriptive, normative, and virtue ethics frameworks to learn how philosophical approaches apply to AI design and implementation.

Then you’ll explore the digital divide and how bias can emerge through data and be perpetuated through algorithms.

Evaluate the human and societal impact of AI

Move beyond the technical world of AI. On this course you’ll explore how AI is shaping learning, healthcare, and environmental outcomes, with both positive and negative effects.

From inclusive education to existential risks, real-world examples will help you think deeply about governance, accountability, and the future of AI.

AI Ethics, Inclusion & Society

Through discussions and interactive activities, you’ll consider the voices shaping AI development. Explore how AI can amplify discrimination or act as a force for social good.

By the end of this course you’ll be able to evaluate global responses to AI governance and imagine what a more inclusive and ethically aware digital future might look like.

This course is open to all curious minds. It’s designed for adult learners interested in how AI intersects with ethics, bias, diversity, and inclusion—no prior experience required.
