Salary: Grade G (£28,598 - £31,022)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Full time, Temporary (18-month fixed term contract)
Location: Codsall Community Hub, hybrid working available
Are you passionate about sustainability and community engagement? Do you want to help shape the future of waste and recycling services in South Staffordshire? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Community Services team as a Waste Projects Officer.
The roleAs Waste Projects Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation of Simpler Recycling requirements and the mobilisation of the Council's waste collection service contract. You'll lead on innovative waste projects, develop and deliver impactful communication campaigns, and engage with residents and stakeholders to improve recycling and waste minimisation across the district.
You'll also be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering waste-related projects and roadshow events
- Developing business cases and securing external funding
- Leading on the communal food waste collection project
- Enhancing the customer journey through digital service improvements
- Producing the quarterly waste newsletter and updating web content
- Collaborating with contractors and community groups on social value initiatives
We're looking for someone who is:
Educated to A-Level (or equivalent), with GCSEs in English and Maths; Experienced in communications, and project delivery; Skilled in using data to inform decisions and presenting findings; Knowledgeable about waste reduction, recycling services; Confident engaging with stakeholders, along with strong organisational and communication skills; A professional qualification in waste management, environmental disciplines, or project management is desirable, as is experience working in a local authority or with community groups.
You must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
