An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the multidisciplinary Surgical Acute Frailty Team (SAFT) based within the surgical directorate in Ninewells Hospital.
The significance of identifying frailty in surgical patients has been emphasised in the literature because of its association with increased mortality, increased risk of post-operative complications, and longer hospital stays. Since its establishment more than five years ago, the Surgical Acute Frailty Team has made substantial progress in supporting the journey of older surgical patients in response to these findings.
As part of the multidisciplinary team the above post holder will have responsibility of delivering Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and ensuring that relevant care needs are being practiced in line with current evidence- based practice, local and national guidelines.
You will be a registered nurse, with a Master's Degree level of qualification (or be willing to work towards) including a relevant module in clinical assessment. You must have a positive attitude to change and be committed to deliver a high standard of person centred care. Experience at band 5 level with experience of working with the elderly/frail population along with some previous surgical exposure would be highly advantageous.
Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work well with minimal direction and supervision. It is anticipated that the candidate is already supporting the delivery of safe and efficient care while working in a way consistent with person-centeredness principles. Within SAFT, you will collaborate to enhance care delivery effectiveness and efficiency as well as the measurement of these requirements. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to influence and develop continuing practice in the of care needs of older adults within surgery.
You must be registered on the Sub part 1: RN1 or sub part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC register and be able to demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development relevant to this post.
Hours of work are 37 hours over a 5 day period.
