Job Description

These are exciting times at ARAG, as we are experiencing positive business change and sustained growth across our Legal Advice teams. We now have a Technical Legal Trainer opportunity available.

In this role, you will support the delivery of technical legal training (both face-to-face and online) across our Legal Advice department (dual site), while helping provide a professional Legal Advice service to our commercial and personal customers.

Your role will assist management with technical legal training by supporting, coaching, and mentoring new and existing Legal Advisers, as well as deputising in the absence of the Team Leaders, providing technical expertise and guidance.

Note: We have Legal Advice teams based at both our Bristol and Bedwas offices. Due to the face-to-face nature of much of the training, this role requires on-site work 3-4 times per week at both locations.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying training needs (TNA) via monitoring legal advice calls and providing feedback to Legal Advisers.
  2. Delivering technical legal training to new and existing Legal Advisers on various areas of law.
  3. Assisting with complex legal queries and acting as a technical referral point for Legal Advisers.
  4. Designing and developing new training materials in line with regulatory changes and legal updates.
  5. Managing the customer experience professionally, ensuring engagement, managing expectations, and meeting/exceeding service levels.
  6. Proposing new ideas and initiatives to improve working practices and procedures.
  7. Supporting strategic initiatives to develop and enhance the Legal Advice service.
  8. Understanding and complying with SRA regulations and statutory obligations.
  9. Keeping abreast of relevant regulatory and legal updates and updating training content accordingly.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced legal professional with a passion for training and development, excellent communication and facilitation skills, and a customer-focused approach.

Other key requirements include:

  • Practical knowledge of areas such as Employment, Property, Consumer Law, and the ability to learn and train on other legal issues like Family, Wills & Probate, Landlord & Tenant, and Commercial Law.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple sites with a customer-centric focus.
  • Strong negotiation, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging training tailored to varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Excellent customer service skills and understanding of its importance.
  • Ability to meet performance targets and SLAs.
  • People management skills.
  • Willingness to travel weekly between Bristol and Bedwas.

Our team is passionate and encourages independent thinking and ownership. We offer modern offices in Bristol, flexible working options, and a comprehensive benefits package including holiday entitlement, private medical insurance, pension scheme, income protection, legal protection, salary sacrifice benefits, employee discounts, and social activities.

If you believe you are a good fit and have transferable experience, we encourage you to apply, even if you do not meet every listed criterion.
