Our client is looking for a Facilities Technical Engineer to support the management of its facilities and technical estate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in mechanical, electrical, or data centre systems.
Location Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:- Carrying out daily data centre and facilities inspections, ensuring all areas meet operational and SLA requirements.
- Identifying and escalating technical issues promptly and tracking resolution.
- Maintaining planned preventative maintenance schedules for power and cooling systems.
- Managing the isolation and de-isolation of fire suppression and alarm systems, including supervision of contractors.
- Assisting with maintenance and minor repairs across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensuring all contractors are authorised, with correct permits and security clearance.
- Completing weekly fire alarm testing and maintaining accurate records.
- Monitoring facilities helpdesk tickets and allocating tasks to internal teams or contractors.
- Conducting monthly generator tests and recording power readings.
- Managing documentation, work permits, and payment requests for contractors.
- Supporting the Facilities Manager with reporting and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with critical systems, ideally within a data centre, telecommunications, or facilities management environment. Strong technical understanding of power, cooling, and fire suppression systems is essential, along with the ability to manage workloads independently and communicate effectively across departments. A valid driving licence is required, and the candidate must be willing to participate in a standby rota. Technical qualifications in electrical, mechanical, or air conditioning systems would be advantageous, as would experience with BMS systems, UPS units, and standby generators.
