Staff Nurse - Plastics Outpatients

Are you looking for a new challenge to make use of excellent wound care knowledge and skills? Would you like to work in a well renowned regional centre for Plastic Surgery? Join the Plastic Surgery Outpatients team at Wythenshawe Hospital.

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with experience in Plastic Surgery or another relevant wound care setting. Recent NHS experience is required.

This is a challenging but rewarding role. You will be enthusiastic, eager to learn and develop yourself, and will join a large, dedicated multi disciplinary team devoted to improving patient outcomes in this specialism.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication and problem solving skills, a friendly and approachable manner, and a willingness to learn new skills are essential for working within the Plastics Outpatient department, which serves Wythenshawe, Withington and Altrincham Hospitals.

The team fully supports you to reach your potential and offers ongoing personal and organisational development in line with appraisal, individual needs and service developments.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • UK fully registered NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Evidence of Level 6 Study
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of current nursing issues
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • Evidence of IT/Word Processing skills
  • Knowledge of wound care including the use of TNP and Pico
  • Must have relevant NHS experience
  • Knowledge of Plastic Surgery
Training & Experience
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to supervise and support junior staff
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability
  • Awareness of clinical audit
  • Experience in wound care in other relevant setting
  • Evidence of undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
  • Experience in Plastic Surgery nursing
  • Experience in outpatient settings

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team

  • Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
