Together, our people make the world safer.Thales (Belfast) have an opportunity for a Software Architect to work on cutting edge technology delivering integrated air defence solutions and military management information systems. The successful candidate will work within an integrated project team and will develop their skills through being involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. The Role and Responsibilities Working within an Agile environment you will take a key role within the business as a Software Architect. You will be responsible for leading a team and the alignment of the technical direction. Providing a strong technical direction involves establishing a technical vision, resolving technical disagreements and managing the technical quality of team deliverables. Manage and coordinate software architecture studies across lifecycle phases from Bid to Delivery in collaboration with bid/project/product teams Approve the technical, technological, and methodological choices taken in respect of the selected software architecture Guarantee adherence to standards, reuse and product policies Prepare and document architecture choices, present and document their justification and trade-offs (Design & Justification Files) Support and coach development teams throughout the development cycle Participate in knowledge sharing such as provide knowledge on state-of-the-art software architecting or software practices, writing article on engineering communities, sharing return of experience during webinar, animate Dojo and peer programming review. Maintain a technological watch on trends and identify modelling, simulation and prototyping opportunities Set the expectations for the code quality and corresponding KPIs Setup and follow the application of the coding practices Actively contribute to the technical solution definition and improvements Help the team focus on cross/non-functional requirements Educate and mentor junior developers to help them grow in their role Aligning both Development and DevOps priorities to meet technical goals Monitoring of security and commercial impact of developments on the platform Your Skills and Experience We recruit Software Architects at many levels but we would expect to see many of the below traits and experiences in a successful candidate, or at least plenty of potential. Team player with a sharp intellect, challenging approach and a "can do attitude". Significant experience in execution of the full software engineering lifecycle (both traditional and agile) - including operational deployment knowledge with modern development practices and tools. Experience of multi-stakeholder change management activities in a complex environment Experience of delivering software in the context of system level and system of systems programmes An understanding of the exploitation of Architectural modelling techniques. Able to influence a wide range of people to get things done - needs to be highly effective in a matrix based organisation - encourages an open environment where information and ideas are shared and innovative thinking is stimulated You are familiar with engineering process and solution definition. You have proven modelling skills and ability to use modelling tools/methods You are able to work within Agile environment (Scrum, SAFe, Less ), Lean engineering and DevOps culture You are proficient in the management of performance, robustness, safety , and cybersecurity You are familiar with design patterns and able to define reusable referenced architecture in line with product policy You master Software Design and technologies related to our domain completed by skills related to rules and regulations COTS/OSS licensing, Intellectual Property, GDPR You have good skill in collaboration to interact with the other stakeholdersThales is a great place to work so diversity, integrity and a passion for what we do are very important drivers for us.
