Service Lead - Mental Health

Hours: 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday (no shifts or weekends)

Location: Baldock Manor Hospital, Baldock

Salary: £53,800, plus welcome bonus and excellent benefits package.

We're looking for an experienced Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Nurse to join us as a Service Lead across two acute mental health wards. This is a weekday, daytime position - no shifts, no nights - offering genuine work-life balance and the chance to lead a passionate, multidisciplinary team delivering outstanding care.

As Service Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining clinical excellence, supporting your team, and shaping how high quality, compassionate mental health care is delivered at Baldock Manor Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a dedicated team across two acute wards, promoting best practice and professional excellence.

• Foster a supportive, collaborative culture where staff feel valued and motivated.

• Ensure safe staffing levels and effective rota planning to deliver consistent, high quality care.

• Provide hands on clinical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team.

• Oversee ward operations, ensuring compliance with MHA, CPA, NMC, and hospital standards.

• Manage ward budgets and resources responsibly to achieve cost effective, high quality outcomes.

• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Play an active role in clinical governance, ensuring safe, evidence based, and effective care.

• Maintain clear communication with senior management and support hospital wide goals.

About You

• Registered professional in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing.

• Strong background in mental health care.

• Proven leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

• Demonstrated experience in managing finances and budgets.

• Understanding and experience of clinical governance and quality improvement.

• Confident managing teams, operations, and service delivery in a dynamic environment.
