Job Description
Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Service Designer until the 31st of March 2026 on a rate of £25.96 - £30.22/hour PAYE - working 35 hours per week. This role will be remote working, candidates should be UK based.
Responsibilities:
- Use design thinking, methods and tools to solve problems: both large and complex such as connecting seemingly unconnected concepts and organisations; and small and detailed such as the logistics of a pilot
- Plan, organise and facilitate user research, co-design workshops and events: bringing together individuals, partners and stakeholders to unpick challenges and identify new solutions
- Enable co-leadership for individuals: Designing solutions that enable individuals themselves to co-lead research and service design activity
- Synthesise research results into insights, themes, service opportunities and design principles
- Use research/insights to identify inspiring new solutions
- Develop well specified concepts, blueprints and prototypes
- Communicate findings and ideas with internal and external stakeholders and influence thinking
- Work closely with cross functional teams to define the detail of services, eg prototyping and creating specifications
- Champion, demonstrate and build capacity in the design process for stakeholders, partners and colleagues
Essential Skills:
- Have demonstrable work experience equivalent to SCQF level 9 or be educated to degree level in design
- Experience of using the design process in service or product development
- Experience of delivering new service or product designs
- Experience in planning and leading design projects
- Knowledge of service design processes and related disciplines
- Well versed in Adobe Creative Suite including; Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Analysis and problem-solving skills
- Change management skills
- Organisational and planning skills
- Facilitation and design research skills
- An excellent communicator
- A positive and proactive approach to problem solving
- Personal resilience
- Able to question and challenge constructively
- User centered and empathetic
- An innovative and inspirational thinker
- Able to multi task and prioritise
- Able to handle pressure and competing priorities
- Be curious and enthusiastic
- Embraces change taking a pragmatic approach

- Knowledge and experience of UX or interaction design
- Knowledge and experience of graphic design
