Job Type: Full Time

Location: England, London, City of London

Salary: Negotiable

Job Description

You'll be turning big ideas into real improvements for our communities, playing a key role in bringing projects to life-from revitalising town centres and unlocking new housing to creating places residents are proud to call home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on projects that support the Council's vision for a thriving, sustainable borough, with a focus on improving town centre vitality.
  • Develop detailed project plans and manage budgets, seeking external funding opportunities and removing barriers to delivery.
  • Work on major sites and regeneration schemes, exploring innovative ways to turn planning ambitions into action.
  • Draft design guidelines, engagement strategies and support housing and infrastructure delivery.
  • Build strong relationships across the Council and with external partners, including developers and local communities, to advance progress.
  • Engage residents, councillors and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and driving consensus.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience in planning, regeneration or urban design, with solid project management skills for larger or complex schemes.
  • Hands on experience in community engagement, particularly in housing or placeshaping projects, and ability to translate feedback into tangible outcomes.
  • Degree level education in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong IT, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Proactive, people focused, with a can do attitude and genuine passion for making a difference.
Benefits & Development

At RBKC we invest in our people, providing CPD opportunities, professional membership funding, and tailored training. You'll have a clear progression path within the Planning service, with managers encouraging growth and new challenges.

Your work will be visible and rewarding-many projects are industry recognised, and you'll see the impact on neighbourhoods. Flexible working allows you to spend around three days a week in the borough, balancing collaboration with independence.
