Job Description

A leading Irish construction and building contractor, delivering award-winning, multi-million-euro projects across Ireland and the UK, is seeking a commercially driven and strategic Purchasing Manager / Strategist to lead and develop its procurement function based in Galway.

This is a senior leadership role focused on driving cost efficiencies, strengthening supplier partnerships, and delivering measurable commercial value across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to achieve improved commercial rates through: volume discounts, rebates, structured payment agreements.
  • Lead and continuously enhance a robust Master Price List.
  • Review and strategically manage global supply categories including energy, fuel, stationery, and other overheads.
  • Drive international procurement initiatives and sourcing strategies.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the Purchasing Department.
  • Deliver measurable cost-saving initiatives aligned with company financial targets.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring competitive market tension.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in strategic procurement or purchasing management.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering cost savings.
  • Experience negotiating high-value contracts and international sourcing agreements.
  • Construction industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous leadership experience managing and developing teams.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret spend data.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
