We are looking for a Publicity Manager with creative flair and strategic vision to join Bluebird, Pan Macmillan's dynamic non fiction division. You will lead high impact, integrated media and event campaigns for a list of inspirational, life enriching books, from bestselling self help and expert led lifestyle to impactful memoirs and cookery sensations.

Your team:

Bluebird and One Boat are a dedicated non fiction division at Pan Macmillan and we are in an exciting new phase. Our list is made up of a wide range of subject areas, from expert led self development and health, impactful memoir, commercial environment, and nature to beautifully executed cookery and lifestyle gift titles. Some of our classic and upcoming books are Attached by Dr Amir Levine, Clean Magic by Nancy Birtwhistle, Sociopath by Patric Gagne, No Nonsense Nutrition by Dominique Ludwig, Unstressable by Mo Gawdat, and the runaway bestsellers in the Pinch of Nom series.

Your role:

As the Publicity Manager for Bluebird and One Boat, you will develop and deliver integrated, strategic, impactful, and commercial media and events campaigns for our books, authors, and brands. You will contribute to the growth and strategic development of our lists through entrepreneurial and creative thinking.

Please note that flexibility is required for this role, as the nature of author events, tours, and media opportunities will include occasional evening and weekend work.

Your key responsibilities:

Pitch for, organize, manage, and attend strategic events and tours across the UK that will drive book sales around publication and build authors' brands.

Deliver creative, innovative, and strategic sales driving publicity campaigns for non fiction authors and brands that include broadcast, print media, and digital strategies.

Build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of media contacts, journalists, partner channels, bloggers, and retailers in order to maximize PR opportunities and sales for the books you are working on.

Maintain market awareness, with a keen eye for trends and a strong understanding of our audience.

Ensure that plans are communicated in a clear and timely way to all internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to author pitches, read new submissions, and lend your voice to decisions for future publishing investment as requested.

Actively seek opportunities to enhance workflow and processes, using new and developing technologies such as AI (especially Google Gemini), to contribute to continuous improvement within the team.

Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you'll need to succeed:

Campaign execution: Extensive experience delivering campaigns across events, festivals, broadcast, print media, and digital channels.

Integrity: A history of building and maintaining excellent, trusted working relationships with a wide range of media contacts, ensuring reliable and effective campaign outreach.

Relationship management: Demonstrable experience of managing high profile authors, talent, and multiple stakeholders.

Commercial acumen: Excellent book market and commercial knowledge with the ability to keep up to date with the latest trends, news, media, and wider cultural landscape.

Industry knowledge: A demonstrable passion for self development, health, and lifestyle books and the publishing industry, particularly the lists of Bluebird and One Boat.

Community: Effective communication and collaboration skills and adept at working across functional teams while championing an inclusive approach.

Content Creation: Persuasive trade and consumer copywriting skills for pitches and presentations.

Curiosity: A proactive approach to exploring and leveraging digital tools and AI to streamline routine tasks and workflow efficiency.

Audience focus: Passionate about connecting readers with our books in all published formats.

Desirable skills we'd love you to have:

Have a knowledge of the wider publishing industry, competitor awareness, and trade press.

Familiarity with Google for Work (Gmail/Gemini/Google Workspace).

This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with flexibility to work from home each week.
