Mental Health Clinical Lead

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinical Lead to join the Mental Health team at HMP Wakefield, a category A prison, within the Integrated Healthcare Services team.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8-4 with flexi for weekends when needed. No nights.

Salary

Full time, annual salary up to £58,012 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main Duties

• Provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and allied health professionals.
• Establish inter agency working where necessary to ensure good communication and improve quality of care for patients.
• Ensure clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
• Provide nursing triage, screening and assessment based on the Wellbeing Approach and Practice Plus mental health policy.
• Participate in the development of local operating procedures to ensure clear pathways for clinicians.
• Handle all complaints/concerns relating to mental health in a timely manner.
• Lead treatment or care within mental health nursing.
• Manage waiting lists to minimise waiting times for patients.
• Provide medicines management/advice and support medicine administration.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, planning and treatment of patients.

Qualifications

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council).
• BSc or equivalent qualification.
• Experience of supervising and managing a large, complex multidisciplinary team.
• Teaching / mentoring experience and/or qualification.
• Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development to maintain up to date knowledge and competence.
• Ideally a prescriber, but not essential.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
