Mental Health Clinical Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinical Lead to join the Mental Health team at HMP Wakefield, a category A prison, within the Integrated Healthcare Services team.
Hours37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8-4 with flexi for weekends when needed. No nights.
SalaryFull time, annual salary up to £58,012 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

- Provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and allied health professionals.
- Establish inter agency working where necessary to ensure good communication and improve quality of care for patients.
- Ensure clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
- Provide nursing triage, screening and assessment based on the Wellbeing Approach and Practice Plus mental health policy.
- Participate in the development of local operating procedures to ensure clear pathways for clinicians.
- Handle all complaints/concerns relating to mental health in a timely manner.
- Lead treatment or care within mental health nursing.
- Manage waiting lists to minimise waiting times for patients.
- Provide medicines management/advice and support medicine administration.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, planning and treatment of patients.
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council).
- BSc or equivalent qualification.
- Experience of supervising and managing a large, complex multidisciplinary team.
- Teaching / mentoring experience and/or qualification.
- Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development to maintain up to date knowledge and competence.
- Ideally a prescriber, but not essential.
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
Subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A submission will be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
