Job Description

CNC Recruitment are looking for a skilled and reliable Material Planning & Control Manager to join our client in Yeovil - a well-respected aerospace engineering company.

Working Hours

Woking hours: Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 5.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 12pm

Job Type: Temp to Perm (Permanent after 16 weeks)

Salary

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

The Material Planning and Control Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and components to support production activities within a highly regulated defence market. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end material planning process, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring timely procurement to meet production schedules and contractual obligations. As a strategic leader, the Material Planning and Control Manager contributes to operational excellence, supply chain resilience, and compliance with defence industry standards.

Material Planning and Inventory Management
  • Develop and execute material requirement plans aligned with production schedules, project timelines, and business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels are optimized to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and engineering teams to anticipate material needs and address potential bottlenecks.
Process Improvement and Compliance
  • Implement and refine planning tools, systems, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure full compliance with customer requirements, including security protocols and export control requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning and control processes.
Reporting and Analysis
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material planning and inventory management, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on material shortages, delays, or inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support financial forecasting and budgeting by providing accurate material cost data.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of material planners and stores operators, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Provide training and support to ensure team members understand and comply with regulatory requirements and best practices.
