Lead Pharmacist Cancer Clinical Trials

Are you a Pharmacist with Clinical Trials experience looking to work within one of London's most esteemed Trusts?
Join us as the Cancer Clinical Trials Lead Pharmacist and play a vital role in advancing cancer research and patient care. You'll help deliver a high-quality, responsive and innovative pharmacy service supporting haematology and oncology clinical trials across the Trust. Working closely with research teams, investigators, and sponsors, you'll ensure the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of trial medicines, in full accordance with GCP and GMP standards.
You'll oversee the clinical and operational aspects of trial delivery, from feasibility and protocol review to the manufacturing, dispensing and monitoring of investigational products, ensuring every stage meets the highest clinical and ethical standards. With your expertise, you'll support pharmacy staff in developing their knowledge and confidence in trial processes, contribute to the creation of policies and procedures that strengthen service delivery, and help maintain a flexible, patient-focused approach to research.

Main duties of the job- Ensure the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines within haematology and oncology clinical trials in line with GCP and GMP standards.
- Work collaboratively with research teams, investigators, feasibility officers and sponsors to support the smooth initiation and delivery of trials.
- Oversee the clinical and operational management of investigational medicinal products including manufacturing, dispensing and accountability.
- Provide expert clinical advice and support to pharmacy, nursing and medical staff on all aspects of oncology and haematology clinical trials.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and training that enhance the quality and consistency of the clinical trials service.
- Support, mentor and train pharmacy staff to build knowledge, competence and confidence in clinical trial processes and governance

Person Specification Education- Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Member of the GPhC
- GCP and GMP training
- Diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
- London Cancer Alliance Passport for SACT Screening (or equivalent)
- Appropriate short management courses
- Independent prescriber
- Haematology and/ or Oncology experience
- Clinical Trials experience
- This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (aseptic services, clinical trials, ward services, dispensing and medicines information)
- Practical Clinical experience
- Screening IV SACT
- Setting-up and managing clinical trials
- Using electronic prescribing systems
- Experience in management of others
- Able to interpret and apply complex guidance, including GCP and GMP, to everyday situations.
- Ability to identify and manage risks, including managing financial risks
- Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to identify and meet own training needs
- Word and Excel at an advanced level
- Communicates best practice and demonstrates good leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve service quality
