Our client based in Poole has an immediate requirement for an experienced Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join their busy manufacturing maintenance team.

The main scope of the role is to design, develop and maintain control systems and processes to support the safe, efficient and effective operation of the site. The main duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Routine monitoring and maintenance of the plant electrical, control and automation equipment, systems and processes to ensure reliability.
  • Ensure there is a phased replacement/upgrade strategy for control systems.
  • Assist all engineering shifts when required on fault finding to maintain minimal machine downtime.
  • Provide control, automation and electrical support for all aspects of the operation and engineering functions during maintenance, improvements, projects and commissioning.
  • Continually update and modernise the factories control, automation and electrical systems in regard to PLC's, HMI's, Scada, servo drives and instrumentation.
  • Update the Engineering maintenance system to provide feedback on completed tasks to ensure equipment histories and costs are kept up to date, enabling follow up work to be identified and planned.

Applicants must hold an Electrical or Systems Engineering qualification with 10 years of post-qualification industry experience and must be able to demonstrate Health and Safety and Food Hygiene leadership. You must also be proficient in control theory and programming languages. You must also be able to evidence the following competencies:

  • Analytical mindset, coupled with a strong understanding of operations and engineering processes
  • Able to deliver timely and accurate changes to control systems to keep the site running safely.
  • Excellent judgement and decision making under pressure
  • Able to take a broad view whilst providing the necessary interventions.
  • Forward looking, able to continuously improve productivity through innovation

This is a full-time permanent position, the hours of work are to be confirmed, but it is likely you will be required to work across a 3-shift pattern of earlies, lates and nights. The starting salary will be £48,860 per annum.
