Job Description

Purpose of the Job CBRE is responsible for maintaining and operating Critical Environments on behalf of our Customer. The role of DC M&E Technician includes:
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works on Critical Plant, equipment, and systems in accordance with agreed service levels.
  • Responding to and managing site engineering emergencies within critical environments.
  • Monitoring Data Centre environments for changes in condition, identifying causes, and reporting to the team and customer.
  • Assisting in ensuring 100% uptime of Customer Data Centres.
The role reports to the Site Supervisor and works closely with the Contract Manager and Customer DC Manager. Key Tasks
  • Ensuring routine maintenance of critical plant, equipment, and systems.
  • Operation, troubleshooting, and first-time fixes for systems such as:
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Air conditioning systems including DX, Chilled water, and Adiabatic AHUs
  • Generators and controls
  • AC/DC single-phase and three-phase motors
  • UPS Systems
  • Emergency lighting
  • HV/LV Systems
  • Fire Systems including VESDA and Gas Suppression
  • Inspection and condition checks of critical plant
  • Incident management and escalation
  • Managing subcontractors and ensuring controls within Permit to Work systems
  • Maintaining accurate critical records.
Education and Experience
  • Electrical Engineer / City & Guilds - Electrical or equivalent, ideally with a mechanical or electrical apprenticeship or significant experience.
  • Multi-skilled with knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical systems, UPS, Generators, Power Distribution, HVAC.
  • Experience working in a Data Centre environment.
  • HVAP certification (current or expired).
  • Desirable: Knowledge of ICT systems.
Skills
  • Desirable: Air Conditioning qualifications.
  • Customer-focused, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to plan workload, prioritize tasks, and use systems efficiently.
  • Proactive, with a mindset open to new ideas and improvements.
  • Ability to identify energy efficiencies to help meet customer targets.
