Overview

Year 1 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Immediate start until July 2026. £81 - £101 per day. 1:1 and small group support in Year 1 at a Good 3-form entry primary school, Wolverhampton.

Responsibilities
  • Support Year 1 pupils through short, purposeful interventions and in-class help.
  • Run phonics catch-up, early writing and maths boosters.
  • Prepare simple resources and keep concise notes so next steps are clear.
  • Reinforce routines, encourage positive behaviour, and build pupils' confidence and independence.
The Role

You'll deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support that helps pupils make rapid progress in phonics, writing, and number.

The Candidate

You're a graduate who communicates clearly, follows guidance well, and brings a calm, organised approach. You enjoy working with young children and want to develop practical classroom skills ahead of initial teacher training.

Requirements
  • Degree - A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children - Strong interest in KS1 and pupil progress.
  • Experience working with children - Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
