About the role
As a Website Developer within the Digital Transformation Team at the Legal Ombudsman (LeO), you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing LeO's website and contributing to the broader digital transformation strategy. In this position, you will ensure that the website is up-to-date, functional, and optimised for both performance and security, providing an excellent user experience.
Beyond your primary responsibilities Leo will offer you training on Microsoft's Power Platform, gaining the Skills and expertise to support and customise the in-house Microsoft Dynamics-based Case Management System (CMS).
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned web developer eager to expand their skill set by working with cutting-edge Microsoft technologies while contributing to the ongoing growth and optimisation of LeO's digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Umbraco Website Development and Maintenance
Maintain and enhance the Legal Ombudsman's Umbraco-powered website.
Implement updates, troubleshoot issues, and optimise for performance, accessibility (WCAG), and security.
Develop using ASP.NET Core, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Razor syntax within the MVC framework.
Collaboration and Training
Provide guidance and training to the Communications team on creating accessible digital content.
Work with internal teams and stakeholders to align digital projects with organisational goals.
Microsoft Dynamics & Power Platform Development
Participate in training on Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse.
Support the lead developer in customising and extending our Dynamics 365-based Case Management system.
Learn and apply plugin development in C# and basic SQL for data handling.
SharePoint and Document Management
Assist in the development and optimisation of our SharePoint Intranet and document management systems.
AI and Automation Integration
Support the integration of Intelligent Automation (IA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies across CMS2 and wider infrastructure.
Continuous Improvement
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in web and enterprise development.
Take ownership of personal development through training and mentoring.

Follow all LeO policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring that all work complies with organisational standards, including the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and LeO's equality and diversity policies.

General Administrative and Organisational Tasks:
Participate in the Personal Development Review (PDR) process, manage your time effectively, and carry out additional duties as required by the line manager.
About you
- Proven experience in web development: Strong coding skills in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript, with a solid understanding of modern web development practices.
- Experience with CMS: Demonstrable experience in working with Content Management Systems (CMS), including creating and editing custom themes/templates.
- Attention to detail: Ability to ensure high-quality, accurate, and accessible web content, with an eye for detail in the development process.
- Excellent communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, comfortable working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to learning new technologies and evolving the skill set, especially in areas such as Microsoft's Power Platform, SharePoint, and AI/Intelligent Automation.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining websites, using languages and frameworks such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and .NET.
- Experience in web performance optimisation: Demonstrable skills in optimising websites for performance, security, and accessibility, ensuring a smooth user experience.
- Experience supporting accessible content: Knowledge of web accessibility standards (eg, WCAG) and experience providing guidance and training on accessibility best practices.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms: Experience working with CMS platforms and understanding how to implement, update, and manage content effectively.
- Experience in time management and prioritisation: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high standards of work.
