Supplier Development Engineer Opportunity: Drive Quality and Performance!

• Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer
• Location: Peterlee
• Rate: £50.00 per hour
• Duration: 12 months (Likely to extend)
• Start Date: 5th January 2026
• Working Hours: 08:00-16:00 core, site-based.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Confirming parts meet engineering print requirements and validating supplier capacity to ship parts on time.
• Conducting quality control audits to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
• Ensuring the quality of supplies through tests and assessments.
• Developing supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
• Guiding suppliers to reduce defect rates and generating reports on supplier quality.
• Supporting suppliers in performance improvement through process enhancements and quality assurance plans.
• Researching potential vendors and assessing their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

The hiring manager is looking for someone with a strong 'can-do' approach and exceptional attention to detail.

Top 3 Must-Have Skills:

1. Robust Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) skill.
2. Robust Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) skill.
3. Build in quality skills (eg, ability to determine root cause and implement action).

Required Experience:

• A minimum of 10+ years' experience is preferred.
• Candidates with slightly less shop floor experience (around 5 years) will be considered if they also hold a degree.
• Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer background is transferable.
• You must be able to lead structured problem-solving efforts and champion quality as a strategic value.
