Job Description

Shift Pattern & Working Hours

Monday to Friday. There may be requirement to cover other shifts as per nursing contracts including weekends. Effective 1 April 2026, the full time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.

Role Overview

In conjunction with the management team contribute to and deliver a comprehensive Blood borne virus (BBV) and sexual health service. The role sits within the wider Alcohol and drug recovery service with expectation to participate within this team. Service in partnership with Primary Care and Mental Health practitioners as part of a multi disciplinary team within the prison setting and to deliver a comprehensive blood borne virus service.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to and deliver a comprehensive Blood borne virus (BBV) and sexual health service.
  • Provide assessments, provide and evaluate a range of health interventions to meet prisoner healthcare needs and contribute to the wider continuous development of prison healthcare services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of BBV issues and treatment options to provide clinical guidance to all staff on matters relating to health and wellbeing.
  • Carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care within a secure environment.
  • Work as part of an extensive multi disciplinary team, providing senior practitioner support.
  • Potentially move between the four prison sites as needed to meet service exigencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Live NMC UK pin is required.
  • Driving licence desirable but not essential; ability to access prison health care areas required.
  • Experience in BBV services and prisoner healthcare desirable.
