DescriptionWe are expanding our Public Sector audit services within the Sumer group across our UK-wide hubs. With a strong foundation, we're looking to grow our reach across the UK, and to support this expansion, we're seeking an experienced Audit Director to join the team.
This is a strategic leadership opportunity within a growing national firm, offering flexibility, visibility, and real impact.
Although this role can be based anywhere in the UK, we're looking for someone with a strong client-facing presence who can ideally be based in one of our hubs to help build and grow a team.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou'll play a key strategic role in partnering with our established team to drive the growth of Sumer's Public Sector audit offering. You'll lead the expansion of our presence across the UK, building strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and shaping the future direction of our public sector strategy. In addition, you will take a leadership role in developing and mentoring a high-performing team, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional service and value to our clients.
- Overseeing a significant public sector audit portfolio across the UK
- Leading high-profile audits, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance
- Providing strategic input into the development of the public sector service line
- Coaching and mentoring audit managers and senior staff
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships with key public sector bodies
- Managing engagement profitability and risk
- Playing a key role in business development and thought leadership
- ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent with extensive public sector audit experience
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Strategic and commercial thinker, with a passion for delivering service excellence
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Proven ability to grow client relationships and support practice development
- Excellent technical knowledge and up-to-date understanding of public sector frameworks
