Job Title: Direct Technical Controller (Permanent)
Location: Glasgow, Gorbals
Salary: £28,323
Hours: 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts (between 7am and 8pm), working 5 days out of 7
Job Summary:
The Direct Control Coordinator is responsible for the efficient day-to-day planning and scheduling of engineers across a range of reactive and planned maintenance contracts. This position plays a vital role in ensuring service delivery meets contractual targets while maintaining strong communication between clients, engineers, internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the central point of contact between clients, engineers, and internal departments, ensuring all parties are informed and aligned.
- Plan, allocate, and monitor daily workloads for engineering teams operating across the UK and Northern Ireland.
- Schedule all reactive and planned works through a CAFM platform, ensuring attendance and completion targets (SLA/KPI) are consistently achieved.
- Coordinate outstanding parts and equipment needs in collaboration with administrative support teams to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Review and analyse weekly performance reports to reduce open work orders and drive improvements in SLA and KPI performance.
- Remotely monitor and triage alarms from refrigeration or building systems, identifying false alarms and prioritising genuine faults to streamline engineer workload.
- Provide technical and logistical support to engineers and internal service desk teams, including direct communication with client representatives to resolve issues promptly.
- Carry out general administrative duties such as responding to calls and emails, managing group inboxes, and supporting smooth departmental operations.
- Experience in workforce coordination, scheduling, or service control within a technical, engineering, or facilities environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with engineers, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- A proactive problem-solver who can think logically under pressure.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems or building services would be an advantage, though not essential.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a structured team environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional additional hours to meet operational needs.
- Background in a technical, mathematical, or engineering discipline (qualification or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience using CAFM or similar scheduling platforms.
- Understanding of service-level performance management and reporting.
