Job Description

Matrix Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician on behalf of our client based in Tipperary.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to contribute to high-quality material production. You will be involved in both laboratory and site-based testing, playing an essential role in ensuring materials meet required standards.

This is a hands-on, physically active role involving regular site work, manual handling, and working outdoors across multiple locations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory tests on aggregates, concrete, and bituminous materials.
  • Carry out routine quality control checks including slump testing, cube making, compression and block testing, sieve analysis, moisture and binder content, gradings, and on-site pavement tests.
  • Collect, transport, and handle material samples, including manual lifting of samples and equipment between site and laboratory locations.
  • Carry out routine manual handling as part of daily site-based work.
  • Accurately record and report results in line with required procedures.
  • Work alongside quarry and plant teams to support quality control and resolve any issues.
  • Ensure all testing complies with EN standards, company protocols, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration records are up to date.
  • Collect samples from various sites as required.
What Are We Looking For?
  • Experience in materials testing (aggregates, concrete, asphalt) is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with EN/ISO testing standards is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly communicate test data.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding, hands-on role involving regular lifting, carrying, and site work outdoors.
  • Willingness to work across multiple sites in varying weather conditions.
  • Good team player with strong communication skills.
  • Full driving licence is essential due to site travel requirements.
