Job Title: English Coordinator
Location: Benton House School, Benton, NE7 7XE
Salary: Up to £48,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an English Coordinator to join our close-knit and dedicated team at Benton House School.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the full curriculum, adapted to meet the needs of pupils with complex SEN (including SEMH), while also taking on the additional responsibility of coordinating either English or Maths across the school.
As English (or Maths) Coordinator, you will:
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of a dynamic and engaging subject-specific curriculum tailored to our pupils' needs.
- Support and mentor staff in delivering high-quality teaching that inspires and motivates learners.
- Use assessment data to track pupil progress and implement timely interventions as needed.
- Work closely with the leadership team, therapists, and families to ensure a joined-up approach to education and care.
- Promote a culture of high expectations, creativity, and inclusivity in your subject area.
- Foster a love of learning-especially in reading, writing, communication, or mathematical thinking-through engaging and meaningful lessons.
- Uphold and reflect the core values of Benton House School and Acorn Education.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and committed teacher who:
- Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience delivering the full curriculum in an SEN or specialist setting.
- Has a strong track record of leading English or Maths (or Literacy/Numeracy) with demonstrable impact.
- Understands the unique needs of pupils with complex SEMH and other additional needs.
- Is an effective communicator and team player, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Brings creativity, flexibility, and resilience to their teaching practice.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.

Benton House School is a brand-new Special Educational Needs (SEN) school located in Newcastle (NE7 7XE), dedicated to supporting pupils with complex needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You'll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. 4DWW is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit
