Engineering Shift Lead

I'm working with a leading UK food manufacturer that's investing heavily in its people, processes, and technology and they're looking for a Maintenance Engineering Shift Lead to join their high-performing site in Clitheroe.
If you're a hands-on engineer with strong leadership skills and a passion for driving improvements, this role will give you the autonomy, variety, and influence to make a real difference. You'll lead a skilled engineering team in a fast-paced production environment, keeping the lines running smoothly and ensuring standards are consistently high.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and participate in preventative and reactive maintenance to achieve department KPIs
- Spot and implement improvements to maintenance plans using root cause analysis
- Keep downtime to a minimum through proactive planning and rapid response
- Manage stock, order parts, and control costs
- Oversee contractors and permit systems on shift
- Act as cover for the Maintenance Manager when required
- Maintain strict health, safety, and food safety compliance
- Coach, mentor, and motivate your team to deliver top performance
What We're Looking For
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (multi-skilled preferred)
- Minimum 2 years as a time-served Engineer, ideally within food or FMCG manufacturing
- At least 1 year in a leadership role - or proven people-management skills
- Strong experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Problem-solving ability and a continuous improvement mindset
