Job Description
Responsibilities
  • This position focuses on operational meteorology, delivering highly accurate forecasts to energy market clients within a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Perform detailed analysis of global weather model data to produce precise forecasts for wind and solar generation, as well as precipitation and temperature, across multiple European regions, covering timescales from day-ahead to seasonal outlooks.
  • Communicate forecasts clearly and promptly, both verbally and in writing, to internal stakeholders such as traders and analysts.
  • Analyse atmospheric and climate datasets, contributing to research and development initiatives on the meteorology desk using strong programming capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an operational role supporting commercial clients, ideally within the energy sector.
  • Proven experience generating forecasts (preferably for the energy sector, though military or other commercial backgrounds are also valuable), including interpreting meteorological charts and clearly communicating forecast insights and risks in a timely, actionable manner.
  • Solid understanding of global atmospheric processes and dynamics (e.g. teleconnections) and their influence on European weather at both continental and mesoscale levels.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or other languages; familiarity with atmospheric modelling systems is advantageous.
