We are strengthening our team in Digital Solutions (BDSXW) at our Location in Dublin/Ireland.
ZF's Commercial Vehicle System Division, the largest global vehicle technology provider for commercial vehicles, builds digital services that enable customers to increase the efficiency, sustainability, and safety of their operations while meeting the regulatory and visibility standards of their markets. The solutions are based on a portfolio of IoT devices that access rich and unique proprietary vehicle data, which communicate with a modern cloud based IoT, data management, and end-user software platform. To strengthen and expand the Dublin team, we are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to work alongside the design and product groups to extend the range of ZF's aftermarket devices, creating solutions which cater to a large portfolio of customers in all continents.
What you can look forward to as Embedded Software Engineer - Trailer Pulse:- Design individual components for an embedded software platform.
- Follow best practices in development, testing and release.
- Create technical documentation for the design, implementation and testing of software.
- Adhere to quality procedures.
- Investigate and repair present errors related to field-reported issues.
- Assist the product team in developing new features, aiming to produce optimal performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Take part in the entirety of the release cycle, including improvements of existing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and evaluation of field-test reports.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong expertise in embedded C (bare-metal) and developing for resource-constrained devices
- Proven experience in designing, building, and deploying embedded software solutions
- Experience with large code bases and embedded debugging/troubleshooting
- Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., CAN, UART, SPI, I C) and IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT)
- Familiarity with RTOS and IoT devices in regulated environments (security/compliance)
- Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and sense of product ownership
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a continuous learning mindset
