Job Description
Reports To
Lead Stress Engineer / Head of Engineering
SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Composites Stress Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of composite materials and structures, proven experience in finite element analysis (FEA), and a hands on approach to product development. A desire to contribute to the full product lifecycle, from concept to manufacture, is essential.
Responsibilities- Perform stress analysis of composite structures using industry standard FEA software (e.g., Altair HyperWorks, Abaqus).
- Develop and validate structural models to predict the behavior of composite components and assemblies under various loading conditions.
- Contribute to the design and optimization of composite structures, ensuring they meet performance, weight, and cost targets.
- Conduct material characterization tests and analyze data to determine material properties for use in FEA models.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure designs are structurally sound and manufacturable.
- Generate detailed stress analysis reports and present findings to the engineering team and stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in composites technology and analysis techniques.
- Hands on Development:
- Actively participate in the fabrication and testing of composite prototypes.
- Assist in developing and refining manufacturing processes for composite components.
- Contribute to the development of new composite material solutions and applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in the stress analysis of composite structures.
- Strong understanding of composite material behavior and failure mechanisms.
- Proficiency in FEA software (e.g., Altair HyperWorks, Abaqus). Experience with Altair HyperWorks is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to composite structures.
- On time project delivery: Meeting deadlines for stress analysis tasks within agreed upon timeframes. (Measured by % of projects delivered on time)
- Accuracy of analysis: Demonstrated through validation testing and correlation with real world performance. (Measured by correlation accuracy between FEA predictions and physical test results)
- Design optimization: Contribution to weight reduction and performance improvement in composite designs. (Measured by % weight reduction achieved or performance increase in projects)
- Innovation: Contribution to the development of new composite solutions or analysis methodologies. (Measured by number of new ideas implemented or patents filed)
- Collaboration: Effective teamwork and communication with other engineers and departments. (Measured by peer reviews and feedback from team members)
- Continuous learning: Staying current with the latest advancements in composites and analysis techniques. (Measured by participation in relevant training courses and conferences)
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
