Backend Developer

As Backend Developer, you'll have the opportunity to work primarily on Pydantic Logfire, andoccasionally Pydantic and Pydantic AI. You'll be deeply involved in the development andmaintenance of our core paid product.

What you will do

• Contribute to the development of Pydantic Logfire
• Write and maintain documentation and examples
• Engage with the community through GitHub discussions, issues, and other channels
• Participate in the design and implementation of new features

Who You Are

We expect a candidate for this position to have:

• Strong Python development experience with a deep understanding of type hints andmodern Python features
• Experience with async Python
• Strong experience with databases, in particular Postgres
• Experience running applications on Kubernetes
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production systemsserving 10k+ requests/second
• Strong understanding of software testing and documentation practices
• Experience with Git and GitHub workflows
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools
• A genuine interest in how modern applications are evolving to leverage Generative AI
• Experience with observability tools
• A basic understanding of TypeScript and frontend development
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience

Nice to haves but not required:

• Knowledge of Rust or interest in learning it
• Deep frontend knowledge (i.e. true fullstack)
• Experience with technical writing or developer advocacy
• Experience maintaining open source projects
• Background in building developer tools
• Experience with performance optimization
• Experience with IaC tools (we use Pulumi)

Some non-technical requirements:

• Live and work in a timezone between PT (UTC-8) and CEST (UTC+2)
• Able to travel to EU, UK and US up to 3 times a year to join our off-sites
