Assistant Head - Director of STEM OVERVIEW

We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Head(Director of STEM) to lead STEM provisionacross the Senior School and, through this andother responsibilities, contribute to thestrategic development of the Senior School. TheAssistant Head will have lead responsibility fordeveloping a coherent, effective and inspiringapproach to the curricular and co-curricularprovision of STEM subjects; there will also beopportunities to continue to forge closecurricular links with the Prep School and widergroup in STEM subjects.

The successful applicant will have operationaland strategic responsibility for the Science,Mathematics, Computer Science and Art andDesign departments, working with the relevantdepartmental leads. They will be responsible forpromoting flourishing STEM provision acrossthe Senior School. The role gives outstandingopportunities for leading innovation anddevelopment across the whole of the SeniorSchool. The post holder will be part of the WBSSenior Leadership Team, which meets regularlyto discuss academic, pastoral and co-curricularmatters pertaining to the Senior School.

The Assistant Head (Director of STEM) will beaccountable to, and meet regularly with, theDeputy Head (Academic) and, given theseniority of this role, will also meet regularlywith the Head. The role would be ideal for acurrent Head of Department or Head of Facultylooking for their next step in their professionaldevelopment. This would be an excellentstepping-stone to a Deputy Head position or afantastic opportunity in its own right to shape acritical part of school life.
